NBA tournament has discovered many new cases of Covid-19 virus.
Kevin Durant, superstar of the Brooklyn Nets Club and a former Best Player (MVP) of the American NBA professional basketball, announced his positive for Covid-19 virus along with three other teammates. He became one of the latest virus infections of this tournament.
The NBA was suspended indefinitely after the incident of Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert infected with the Covid-19 virus. There have been new cases of infection in the tournament and it is worrying that even non-players can be contagious despite being in a quarantine state before.
Durant was absent from the NBA/20/20 season due to a serious injury and he occasionally appeared in Nets matches as spectators, sitting on the team’s bench to cheer for his team-mates. The last match Nets played was against Los Angeles Lakers on 10/3.
Durant said he is currently in good health and no signs of virus infection. “Everyone should be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine. We will soon overcome this pandemic” – Durant wrote for The Athletic.
Currently the Brooklyn Nets Club has not disclosed the names of three Durant teammates who were positive for the virus. Nets is urgently informing those who have contact with them to quarantine and contact health organizations for assistance.
The fact that Nets had 4 people infected with the virus and the last match was against the Lakers made the public worried that the Lakers also had the infected person, most notably the two stars LeBron James & Anthony Davis.
Currently in the NBA, there have been three players infected with the virus, including Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell of Utah Jazz and Christian Wood of Detroit Pistons. US media said if the tournament found new positive cases in the coming days, the season could be canceled and the NBA risked 700 million dollars in television rights.
